Stem Cell Partners Research Capabilities

We have established a fully equipped biomedical laboratory for the conduct of life science research.   Our research is conducted for exploratory purposes to identify new inventions and for verifying the performance characteristics of medical devices in development.  We also test employed by doctors to advance the tools employed in the treatment of patients with regenerative medicine.  Our key capabilities can be grouped into the following categories
Cell Separation
We are subject matter experts on the separation of cells using centrifugation.  We use our knowledge to create proprietary devices that facilitate the stratification and extraction of particularly desirable cell fractions from blood, adipose or bone marrow aspirate.  Examples include platelet rich plasma concentrates from blood and stem cell concentrates from adipose or bone marrow.
Blood Activation
We are subject matter experts on the coagulation process of blood.  We use our knowledge for the development of devices that convert blood into a source of thrombin for the purpose of preparing fibrin gels and for the development of proprietary anticoagulant solutions.  The use of a patient’s own blood (autologous) as the source of thrombin has the advantage that it avoids the use of exposing the patient to animal derived proteins such as bovine thrombin which can elicit an immunologically mediated adverse effect.  It also avoids the exposure of the patient to thrombin obtained from other humans which can potentially transmit blood transmitted pathogens.
Toxicology
We are subject matter experts in toxicology with an emphasis on risk assessment of chemical and material exposure of blood contacting materials.   Dr. Chapman holds a Ph.D. degree in Interdisciplinary Toxicology.  We apply the fundamental concepts of toxicology in our product development work to ensure that potential risks are identified and mitigated before our inventions are used as a commercialized product.
Analytics
Stem Cell Partners is proud of the capabilities it has assembled to pursue quantitative analysis of biological fluids.  These include devices to perform cell counting including flow cytometry, hematology analyzers, image cytometers, spectrophotometric plate reader and washer, and coagulation analyzer.  These instruments are well maintained and calibrated.  In addition, we have various lab devices that support the conduct of experiments including precision pipettes, analytical balances, water baths, incubators, refrigerators, freezers, and microscopes.  Collectively, these tools enable us to answer life science research questions by generating reliable data.
Tissue Culture
A dedicate room in our laboratory suite is dedicated to the conduct of experiments in mammalian tissue culture.  The most important assay that we perform is the quantitative assessment of stem cells using the colony forming unit -fibroblast (CFU-F) assay.   The state of the art tissue incubator and laminar flow hood are properly maintained so as to ensure the reliability of the results obtained when culturing cells derived from adipose tissue or bone  marrow aspirate concentrate
